David started B&D Basketball Camps in 2004. At the time, he had several years of experience working youth basketball camps for the Detroit Pistons. His passion for teaching basketball, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with younger kids made the camp an instant success. He had the unique ability to intertwine basketball lessons with those of life. David consistently emphasized the importance of dedication, teamwork, and, of course, always saying “please and thank you.” As a result, kids of all skill levels left the camp feeling empowered and confident.
The Foundation’s goal is to continue David’s commitment to providing an exceptional experience for all campers. The camp will retain his original blueprint for teaching basketball fundamentals and encompass his strong sense of passion and competitiveness. Future camps will be operated by family, friends, teammates, and even a few former B&D campers. Please stay tuned for upcoming camp dates and registration details.
The 8th annual B&D camp was hosted at Goodrich Middle School August 19 – 21, 2013 with more than twenty 3rd – 7th graders participating. The camp featured guest instructors: Joe McElroy and Luke Lloyd from Hill Road Sports Complex, Taylor Gleason of the University of Illinois, and Andrew Patrick of Concordia. A special thank you to ELGA Credit Union for their sponsorship, Athletic Director Dave Davis, and all of the volunteers who helped the foundation make this camp such a success.
